TATOO
TATOO series began in 1994, and it is still continuing. It is a series
of self-portrait, with some special face-painting or dressing. In
TATOO-2, a red Chinese character was painted on the body and the wall,
the meaning of the character is "No!" It covers and erases
the boundary between body and the wall. In TATOO-1, some pushpins
were put on both the body and the wall, which made the body to lose
its weight and its third dimensionality. The illusion here is used
to discuss the relationship between an image and its background---how
an image loses its independence and integrality by the extrinsic power.
