Tomb stone
This was a one-month performance. In
April 2001, I took a tomb inscription from
Northern Wei Dynasty, and found an
abandoned hundred-year old tombstone
in a cemetery in Brooklyn, New York
City. I placed these two tombstones to
face each other and filed them together
until there were no traces left from the original inscriptions. During this period
I used rubbings to record the process
in which inscriptions wore away. After a
month the tombstones were completely
worn down. |
