How to Empty Your Mind
Events
2008
How to Empty Your Mind is a "total art"
proposal to make an art and education
project as part of the exhibition Our
Future - The Guy & Myriam Ullens oundation
Collection. During a one-month period,
artist and participants gathered in the
exhibition hall / classroom / workshop
to discuss various topics and to develop
thinking training. Blackboards were
used to explain and to record writings
and scribbles, rotated and presented
as mirror texts. Next blackboards, filled
with rotated text and images, were
carved to become originals for woodblock
printing. A workshop was set up
during the exhibition; printing presses
were used to produce unlimited editions
of wood-block prints. The prints were
free for participants and visitors to
take home, for they will spread into
social spaces beyond the exhibition/
classroom/workshop. |
