Background: Aging tests primarily refer to the aging trials conducted on rubber, plastic products, electrical insulating materials, and other materials. Typically, these are carried out using either portable aging cabinets or immovable aging rooms that simulate a harsh environment with significant temperature differences. The rooms serve as crucial equipment for enhancing product stability and reliability. Aging chambers are generally purpose-specific: photo-aging chambers test the primary aging damage to outdoor materials, mainly targeting coatings, inks, communication and electrical equipment casings, automotive and motorcycle parts; thermal aging and humidity aging ones focus on the insulation rubber in electrical appliances, cable-stayed bridge coatings, etc.; salt spray chambers test the corrosion resistance of metal materials to marine environments; ozone aging primarily examines the resistance of rubber products to ozone; high and low-temperature cycles and freeze-thaw cycles are predominantly used for testing building coatings and equipment used in special environments.
Concept: In Taoism, there is the concept of a "cavernous heaven," where time slows down or even comes to a halt, and "a day in the mountains is equal to a thousand years in the world,". The aging chamber, in contrast, is an "inverse cavernous heaven," using a specially designed environment to simulate the acceleration of time. In other words, due to the extreme conditions within, the aging chamber becomes a "purgatory" for the items placed inside.
Experiment: We have designed a comprehensive aging chamber here that alternates between various aging methods: xenon lamp aging (300-800nm), UV lamps (280-400nm), carbon arc lamps (300-700nm), and metal halide lamps (280-3000nm); along with high and low-temperature cycling, freeze-thaw cycling, rain exposure, ultrasonic salt spray, and ozone aging, rapidly aging the items within.
Production: We placed genuine Taihu stones, metal sculptures, porcelain, artificial sponges, sculptures of Taihu stones carved from polystyrene, eco-concrete prepared from shell powder and sodium alginate, black and Pu'er tea cakes, several bottles of wine, and the latest fashion magazines, in the comprehensive aging chamber. Power was initiated, and we await the results.
