Concept: Brancusi's Infinity Column is built based on the concept of vertical spatial extension. However, sculpture also exists within the dimension of time, which has always been a potent shaping force. Stalactites are a natural result of additive manufacturing over time, while wind-eroded landscapes featuring wind caves, mushroom rocks, and groups of isolated or clustered stone pillars shaped by uneven erosion are the sculptures of time.
Operation: A collection of meticulously carved Corinthian capital stone sculptures is individually subjected to sandblasting processes, emulating various stages of wind erosion, which obscure the sculptural details and create a gradient of weathering. Stacked together, these capitals form an infinite column that exhibits varying degrees of erosion.stacked to form an Infinity Column that appears to have been shaped by wind.
