Hongyan (Swan Goose)
Hongyan (Swan Goose)symbolizesthe deliveryand exchanges of letters. The robots are writing lettersconstantly. The letters are not merely interesting in themselves; rather, they create interaction and dialogues. The fonts of each writing robot come from the handwritten fonts collected by the museum. Some of the textsare come from love letters on the internet, and some are come from stories compiling by the artist himself. There are stories of Dayu, Fuxi, Cangjie, Sven Hedin, Ferdinand von Richthofen, Przhevalsky, Inoue Yasushi, etc. The whole work intertwines ancient times with modern, the East with the West, as if Hongyan (swan goose)is delivering letters crossing dimensions, or like the murmuring of a high-dimensional intelligent body in the universe. Meanwhile, in the upper part of the exhibition hall, the artist placed a large net where visitors can fold the letters into airplanes after reading, throw them into the net and send them to the future. |
