作为一种调查报告，《西方地图》充满了只有现实才具备的那种荒诞性。西方真正的意义不是一个地理方位而是“彼岸”，丝绸之路通向地理的西方，而想象归于另一种西方。由于这个问题无边无际的复杂性， 《西方地图》事实上是不可能完成的。

The artist invited people with different identities to each paint on the World Map: coloring the areas that are not deemed “the West” in their opinions color of the ocean. And areas that are left become “the West” from their perspectives. As a result, many versions of Map of the West are presented. For some people Russia is part of the West, for some Japan and even Korea are part of the West, some even included India.
As a form of investigation report, Map of the West permeates the kind of absurdity only reality possesses. The West in its real senses is not a geographical location, but “the other side”. The Silk Road connects the geographical West, but imagination takes us into another West. Given the unlimited complexity of this issue, Map of the West can in fact never be finished.
